The best thing to do that will keep you feeling content and not worrying about stuff you can't control is to have no expectations. Having no expectations from other people keeps you from feeling down or disappointed or even angry when someone doesn't fall through to what you will like that person to do. It's all about only having expectations for the necessities in life. Like needing to eat, sleep and drink. You may want to make others feel important and you may want people to fill a role in your life. Instead of doing that, concentrate only on yourself so that you will have no thoughts of expecting something from someone else. This keeps people in any form of relationship feeling free to be as they are. Doesn't mean tolerate disrespect, but it means that you don't put pressure on the one's you love. How this helps you is that you will become care free. Becoming care free from the people around you helps you to be more in tuned to your needs as well as others. You can care about someone's well being, but you don't have to care if they remember to call you during their busy day. Less stress only concentrating on you. Practice having no expectations from other people and see how well you end up feeling.
